For more than 72 years, the name Sheppard has appeared on a building on Palmyra’s Main Street.

In 1945, Walter and Ruth Sheppard opened Sheppard’s Furniture and began offering furniture, upholstery work and draperies to the community.  Their son John grew up in the business and joined the company on a full-time basis in 1966.

As shopping habits changed, so did Sheppard’s.  Today John and Jackie Sheppard specialize in flooring of all kinds from the brand names people know and trust.  Their selection includes carpet, ceramic, vinyl and wood floor coverings in virtually every color and style imaginable.

“The secret to our success is really no secret at all,” said John.  “We have the products people need and want and we back it up with personalized service and attention to detail.  And, we customize our products and installation to fit the needs of our customers.”

John and Jackie are Palmyra natives and are proud to have their son Andy working with them as the third generation of Sheppard’s to serve the community.  Best of all, their grandchildren help part-time, making them the fourth generation in the business.

Sheppard’s Flooring Center is a charter member of the Palmyra Area of Commerce and both John and Jackie are active in community activities, organizations and events.
